VETERANS DAY

Today's segment of Mom Minutes is going to focus on a nice gesture by Krispy Kreme (YUM!) and a very touching poem that we thought all of you should read. Enjoy today and whatever you do, or wherever you go, remember those who have fought so bravely to ensure that we have freedom today!

Are you a veteran (or active military) of the Armed Forces? Krispy Kreme would like to treat you to a free doughnut today!

This year, Krispy Kreme is honoring veterans and active military personnel on Veterans Day, November 11.

They will give away one free doughnut of any variety to all veterans and active military personnel who visit a participating U.S. Krispy Kreme store on Wednesday, November 11.

Click here for a list of participating U.S. Krispy Kreme stores. This offer is valid only at participating U.S. stores on Wednesday, November 11.

Freedom Isn't Free

I watched the flag pass by one day.
It fluttered in the breeze
A young soldier saluted it, and then
He stood at ease.

I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil?
How many mothers' tears?

How many Pilots' planes shot down?
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No Freedom isn't free

I heard the sound of taps one night,
When everything was still.
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.

I wondered just how many times
That taps had meant "Amen"
When a flag had draped a coffin
of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard at the
bottom of the sea
Of unmarked graves in Arlington.....
No -- Freedom isn't free!!...

May we never forget the sacrifices that have been made, and are continuing to be made, by the brave men and women in our Armed Forces.

May God Bless All Of You!
