WHOA! What a Friday I had!!
First of all, hubby and I went to get our taxes done. I am SO relieved that it is over with for another year! We are getting a refund from both Federal and State...thank goodness!! It will come in very handy now that son has his license and we have found a nice car to purchase for him.
Yep!
You heard me right!!
Teen Son got his license!!
YAY!!
Stacey, I was thinking of you the entire time he and hubby were gone. I just KNEW that he would not pass the driving part and we'd have to do this all over again. But, it didn't work out that way. For one thing, since he maintained a "B" average in his Drivers Ed class, and he passed the driving test with the Drivers Ed instructor, he was not required to drive at the DMV. However, the DMV does "spot checks" randomly. So, there was a good chance that he would be subjected to a "spot check."
Here is the good part....the DMV determines who they will or won't "spot check" by their birthday. At the beginning of the month, they pick 3 birthdays. If you come in to get your license and you have one of the three birthdays, then you HAVE to drive, no matter what. Alex's birthday is February 6. One of the spot check birthdays was February 5. I told him that he owes me one, because if it wasn't for me waiting it out 24 more hours, he would have been born on the 5th! LOL
Back to the car:
It is a 2002 Grand Prix with 133,000 miles on, it has a clean CARFAX report, one owner, and is in awesome shape! We had it checked out today by a mechanic, and his words were, "I'd buy it!" I just pray that it will be dependable and reliable and at least get him through high school!
When I was talking to my sister-in-law a few days ago, I said that I was praying for a car that would have high mileage (so that the insurance would be lower), run decent, be a bigger car (not a dinky thing) and look nice.
I said, "look nice, I didn't say look super-cool!"
I think I should have been a little more specific.
This car just screams, "I FEEL THE NEED FOR SPEED!"
I was thinking more along the line of a little old lady car, you know, the kind of car like my Grandma drove.
- Safe.
- Slow
- Steady
God definitely must NOT be female!! LOL
I will post pics when I get them.
As for the other great thing yesterday.....I bought $300 worth of groceries and essentials for $150.00!! SERIOUSLY!! I have the register tapes and I will post them (when I get a picture taken). It was awesome! I was a coupon-clipping mad woman yesterday.
Hope you all are having a great Saturday!

Hope he's careful with that car. Shane had a 1997 Grand Prix when we met and it was FAST, although it was considered a "family sedan" because it had 4 doors.
ReplyDeleteI know! It is considered a family car...what is up with that? It is even cheaper to insure him with this car than it was with the other car we looked at.
ReplyDeleteI am probably going to go completely gray over this whole thing.....ugh!
Congrats on getting them done so early. I do my own and I've got all my stuff ready, I just have to buy the software and pray that my monitor works on my desktop because that's where my tax files from last year are.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to your son and his new car. Hoping for many safe days ahead.
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day.
I almost forgot. I have an award for you.
