WILD WEDNESDAY...WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

.....Yep, today I am gonna be living life on the wild side...I'm going to shake and shimmy, rock and roll, boogy until there's no tomorrow and then collapse, exhausted, on the couch in a heap....

....errr....Actually, I'm just going to be baking some bread and doing some cleaning....but the 1st paragraph sounds alot more fun! LOL

I am currently into making Friendship Bread. This bread uses a starter, and you bake every 10 days. But, before you bake the bread, you put 1 cup into (4) ziplock bags and give 3 of them away to your friends (you keep one). Now, I don't know about you, but would your friends really appreciate being given starter? Or, you could do like my friend did: she sent her son to my door at about 7:30 am, he basically kind of just shoved it to me and said, "this from my mom." He ran back to the van and she drove off, laughing and waving all the way down the block.

I wanted to strangle her! (just kidding, Julie!) :)

Anyway, I decided to go ahead and work with it and make the bread after the 10 days were up. I'm glad I did, because it was a big hit with my family, particularly my teenage son and his pals.

So, the 10 days are up again and I'm going to be getting out my big bowls, mixing the ingredients together, putting my starter into baggies, finding some suckers...errr...friends to give it to....

.....Anyone want any starter???

Share your wild day with me...what are you doing today?

**this is a link that I found that describes the amish friendship bread that I am currently working with**

  1. No thanks! LOL!

I made enough Friendship Bread a couple of years ago to get my fill for a life time. My MIL gave me a starter a few months ago. It died. Oops.

  3. Annie...trust me...my first instinct was to just throw the starter down the toliet!! The last time I did this type of starter bread was about 15 years ago. Mine also died a premature death...oops!! LOL

  4. I know what you mean about the starter! I didn't take care of my last batch, either.

My wild day includes preparing for the 2nd 4-H meeting (but more like the first "real" one) for the year. I like being the leader, but don't like preparing for and doing the meetings. Shouldn't complain, though :).

    Have a great day! Lori

  5. LOL! SUCKER!
I've done that before and after unsuccessfully getting rid of a couple bags, they ended up rotting on the counter. Good thing they were sealed up!
But they did taste great when actually baked... I'm going to do this! Thanks for the heads up!
